Our attempt to camp...

Well hello there! This week Zach and I decided that we needed to do something to celebrate. (For what you might ask? Well, I'll blog about that on Monday) Anyways, we decided to go up to Rocky Mountain National Park to camp. We left early Wednesday so we could do some hiking before putting up camp. Here is how the day went:

We started off with a hike, the park rangers said that some of the hike wasn't very "hike-able" because there was still a TON of snow.   Well, at the beginning there were definitely some spots that were packed with snow, but not a lot. And we were thinking... man that ranger sure made it sound worse than it is... then it became like this... for the rest of the way.
It seems like there is room to walk on the side but mostly there wasn't. I slipped and fell so many times and got SO frustrated!  Then the clouds came in and some avid hikers (each of which were hiking by themselves. One of them didn't have a shirt on... that was pretty funny) came up to us and were like, you may want to turn around because a lot of times at this time of day there is freezing rain, which you don't want to be out here with a baby if that happens. After the first hiker said this we kept on going thinking it had to end soon. But by the time we saw the other hiker he said there were several miles left. So... we turned around. After a couple hours of hiking... at least we got to see some good views.

This is me pretending to be happy...
This is before the hike started... it really is BEAUTIFUL there!
This is towards the beginning of the hike... such pretty views!
And we got to see some wild life. And that was pretty sweet...

We ended up not staying the night because it started raining, and of course we didn't want to be camping in the rain with Jane. Also, we knew that since all the trails were packed with snow we wouldn't be doing any hiking the following day. So... we left, but at least we bought a year pass to the park so we will definitely be going back.

2 year wedding anniversary! WHAT!?

I know... crazy right? We have been married for two years! Okay here's a break down of what we did for our Anniversary:  I woke up at 4:15!!! Thanks to Jane... While Zach woke up at 5:15 so we could make it to Boulder to run the Bolder Boulder 10k. Zach ran 20 seconds faster than last year where I ran 5 minutes slower... but hey. That's pretty good for just having a baby!

Carol and Brent came with us to watch/cheer us on/watch Jane for us. Unfortunately Jane wouldn't take the bottle before I ran. UhOh. So thirty minutes before my heat I had to run to the sidewalk and BREAST FEED JANE! Luckily I had my nursing cover, but STILL! I had to sit and feed her in public. Not only that, but a CRAZY lady walked up and kept getting closer and closer trying to look down the cover. Then asked "oh... boy or girl?" I was like "girl" then she said... "CAN I SEE HER?" I couldn't believe my ears! I was like "um... she's eating right now!" Can you believe that? What a crazy lady!

And this is Rachel, my lovely running partner. We ran the same pace the entire time which was nice. She lives in my townhomes so it is easy to get together for runs. Thanks Rachel!

And that night Zach and I went out to a fancy dinner. We left Jane with his parents for the first time!
And we got this fancy dessert for free! Just for having an anniversary! WOO WOO Holla to the Chop House!
And then the third year of our marriage started...

Me and Jane! WOO!

I realized this week that I haven't been taking ANY pictures of just me and Jane... so yesterday, her 8 week birthday... we had a little photo shoot. So here we are. 8 weeks after she was born. And I LOVE her SO MUCH!
I think she was kinda tired in these pictures.
Last week we went hiking up at Red Rocks with my friend Jessica in my ward and her daughter Brielle who was born the same day as Jane. That was fun... and I was sore the next day...
Cheers to Jane!

Oh how we love her smile! And why we don't comb her hair...

First off... who wouldn't love this baby? She is always (almost always anyways...) happy! I have like a million pictures of her from this day but figured I'd just show you the best one.
And this is why we don't comb her hair down. It just doesn't look like her! I like her hair better being all crazy and out of control. Being combed down is just so against what it wants to do!

Ode to my trusty Jack Purcells

My favorite shoes of ALL time: Converse's Jack Purcells
So, I though I would do a little tribute to them. On the left are me 6 year olds. They have gotten me through a lot. They are probably around my 10th pair that I have had in my life. And the ones I have had the longest.  But I couldn't retire them completely until I got myself a new pair.

Top reasons I love Jack Purcells
  1. They are SUPER cute (in my opinion anyways)
  2. They go with just about anything...
  3. I can wear them with a casual skirt
  4. I can wear them with shorts of capris
  5. I can wear them with jeans! (SO versatile!)
  6. They are actually comfortable (since they came out the last time... Jr. High and High school days, they weren't comfortable and would give me blisters... but I still wore them!)
  7. And I just flat out LOVE them!
Zach and I are trying not to spend too much money these days, so I was really putting off buying my new pair... because they are $50 or $60. (they were much less expensive back in the day) Anyhoo... we were at Nordstroms Rack yesterday and guess what? The ONLY pair they had in black were in my size. And guess what else? They had a 65% off sticker on them. So I got them for only $10!!!
To sum it up... yesterday was the best day of my life!

haha jk, but it was pretty sweet.

Our little ballerina...

Thanks Ashley!!! I LOVE this Tu Tu. It is a size 3-6 months, so it's a little big... but I can't resist. it is SO CUTE!!! We took her to Boulder yesterday and we did a little shopping and I loved every second of her being all dressed up. So... before we left we did a little photo shoot.

My trip home part 3 everything else

Ashley came over the first day I was home and brought Baylor. It was really funny because Baylor didn't want anything to do with me or my mom but absolutely LOVED Zach. And this is how it looked most of the time. Zach sitting with no emotion on his face while Baylor played on him. SO FUNNY!

This is the only picture I have of Jane on Easter... sad I know... anyways she is wearing a really cute dress from her Aunt Jana and Uncle Travis. Thanks guys!
And here is Daddy-O holding Jane. I usually don't care if people wash their hands before holding her, but my dad had just gotten off work and his hands were filthy, so for the very first time, I asked someone to wash their hands before holding her.
And what we came for (and only got one picture of) Matt's wedding. And yes, Zach does have a mustache...

My trip home part 2 Saturday's Market

We went to Saturday's Market in Downtown Portland before our family Easter egg hunt (which I of course didn't get any pictures of...)

Here is me, Jane and one of my best friends Maggie. And of course I forgot the Baby Bjorn so we were so lucky to carry Jane around in a blanket around a bunch of nasty downtowners...And this is just a crazy man on stilts passing out fliers for the circus...

My trip home part 1 Tulip Festival

Alrighty, so last month Zach and I made a trip back to Portland for Zach's friends wedding. While we were there we went to a Tulip Festival in Woodburn OR. It was really pretty. But only some of the Tulips were in bloom.

Here is a picture of kids riding in Clogs pulled by a tractor. Awesome. This is the picture that Zach didn't want to participate in...
This is an awesome picture minus Zach's closed eyes...
This one would have been even more awesome had I been able to not be squinting because of the sun...
And here we are with my parents. (notice how much less vibrant this picture is? Well, this one was taken with our camera, the others were taken by Zach's friend...)

Where do you like to shop?

Okay... so I need your help. Last weekend I tried to shop for a dress and couldn't find ONE single dress that was modest. So... I want to know where you guys shop. Leave a comment of about 3 places you like to look for clothing on line. (I'll tell you more about why later...) THANKS!

Jane smiles now!!!

Jane smiles now! YAY! She has been smiling for reals now for like a week. But it was SO cute the first time, I was holding her and Zach tickled her cheek and she smiled. Then he did it again, and she smiled again. It is REALLY fun to see her smiling and interacting with us. We took this video a few days ago. Thanks guys!!! I know how to put writing on the top. Goes to show that I should have just asked to begin with, rather than always being frustrated... thanks again!
