Denver Zoo Christmas Lights

Last night we went to the zoo with some friends. Our kids were bundled up like crazy. And it was hilarious when her kids would run because their legs and arms were so stiff because of all the layering.
And is it just me or does Jane look evil in the picture below... hahaha it cracks me up. (click on it to make it bigger to get the full effect)

Christmas Morning!

Jane playing with her stocking. Thanks mom! And below are a couple pictures of just how cute Jane was all morning.

Zach's giving me the look of 'hmm... a wii controller? Wonder what could possibly be in the other two boxes...'
And at the end of the morning me saying, Zach take a picture of me and Jane so I can prove I was here!

Christmas Goodies!

Every year at Christmas, my mom makes TONS of goodies. So it has become a family tradition. One that I want to continue. So... Zach and I made a TON of goodies last night... and still have more to make!

Pretzel Turtles
Chocolate covered pretzels-peanut butter balls in the distance.
Me in my glory. ha
Jane at church... you can see her skirt and tights better. (one perk of an Iphone... taking pictures at church.) hehe

Jane-o bueno

This morning before Church we took some pictures of Jane in her Christmas outfit. (Too bad the quality of these pictures are so poor...)

Zach can really make Jane laugh!
The weather has been sunny, but cold lately. But I always think it looks warmer than it is! So I've started putting Jane in this outfit to keep her warm when her mother under estimates the weather! Jane seriously LOVES swings!

I have friends!

YAY! My friend Shannon and her boyfriend Zack came from Portland to visit us here in Denver! We had a lot of fun having them over, and of course... just like always... I only got these two pictures! We went snowboarding on Saturday and on the way home stopped and put the camera on top of the car, with a ten second timer and got these great shots! lol... I promise we did more stuff... it's just I don't have any pictures to prove it!

Everywhere we went this week Jane has been wearing this! It is SO stinkin cute, I just die everytime I put her in it! My friend Maggie got this for her, thanks Maggie!

Oh yeah, and I have a bunch of pics from Thanksgiving that I will post soon!

Grandma's book club

Dear Mom, Jane LOVES being in Grandmas book club! She LOVES books more than just about everything! She also loves trying to pull the pages out... but hopefully I can continue to avoid that...

Thanks Mom, you are the best!

Just so you all know, my mom started Grandma's book club because she doesn't live by any of her grandkids. So, she made each of them a blanket that has a pocket in it so it can hold books, and then sends the grandkids books throughout the year. The plan is that whenever they have books they want read to them, they will put the books in the blanket, bring it to whoever they want to read to them, and then snuggle in Grandma's blanket as they are read to. I love it. Seriously, my mom is awesome.

Oh Janie...

I came in to check on Jane the other day and this is how she was sleeping! LOL
So, I moved the blanket and got another pic. She is SO stinkin cute!

Bum Genius

YAY! I did it! I just went online to wildflower diapers and bought cloth diapers! When I was first pregnant I thought about cloth diapers vs. disposable and I really considered both options. But then I started getting disposable diapers as gifts, and didn't need to buy diapers until Jane was about 4 months old... which... stopped me from thinking too much about it because they were free!

So this last week or two (for some weird reason) I have become a little more environmentally conscious. For instance, every time I use a paper towel, every time I take my extremely long showers, keep the water running while brushing my teeth etc. etc. I feel guilty! So I have been thinking a lot about switching over to cloth diapers, buying cloth napkins and taking shorter showers :)

Yesterday I was at my friend Kathryn's house and she uses cloth diapers (and cloth napkins...) and so I started quizzing her on why she likes them and why she uses them. Anyways, I watched her change her sons diaper and she showed me how EASY it is! I was really impressed. So, I asked Zach last night whether or not I could spend the money and he agreed (as long as I stick with the cloth diapers!) So I bought some this morning! WOO HOO! Even though I haven't started using them yet, I already feel better. I feel this crazy sense of accomplishment. Anyhoo... just thought I would share my excitement!

Average cost of diapers a year per child: $800

I spent $203 for 12 cloth diapers (you do have to run laundry every 2-3 days which will be every 2 days for me because I only bought 12) I may need a few more but wanted to test these out first!
My friend only used 12 for her daughter who is now potty trained. And the 12 lasted from newborn to potty trained. (and now she handed them off to her friend and they are still great!) Crazy cool. And the Bum Genius are cool because they are one size fits all (there are size adjustments on them)! SWEET!

(And don't worry, I only bought 2 of that really cute pink... The rest of the colors I bought are gender friendly...)

That's a lot of money saved!!! WOOT WOOT!

Holy Crap!

Okay so I still have A LOT of catching up to do. However, I hope this holds you over. I will try to catch up later this week. I always forget how time consuming it is to post. Especially waiting for the pictures to load. That's annoying. Well, to hold you over until next time...

Jane now sleeps unswaddled on her tummy because of this:
We took Jane boating (more on that later) and this is about what she looked like the whole time..
We went camping at Bear Lake with some family and friends and Jane was exhausted! (again, more on that later)
And one more cute picture of Jane at Bear Lake! (my shoulder tan/burn line is actually from the half marathon... that is the only spot on my arms that I missed sunscreen... on both sides!)

More to come later! Stay tuned!

Half Marathon the morning after Zach's sister got married! YIKES!

It's true! I ran a half marathon!!! Holy Crap! I finally did it. This has been a goal of mine for quit sometime and I finally accomplished it. I didn't train too well, but I made it. (I walked mile 12... but ran the other 12.1 miles) My good friend Hilary flew here form Utah to run with me and thank goodness she did! That's a long time to run by myself! And Zach ran the first few miles with us... unfortunately we didn't take ANY pictures and only have the ones you have to buy if you don't want their ads on it. LOL

Also, maybe the half marathon would have been easier had we not stayed up late the night before at Dana's wedding, and then had to wake up at 4 something...

Hilary and I saw the cameras so we made a scene to make sure we were noticed. HAHA
Yes, we were jogging, I know... it looks like both of my feet are on the ground at the same time. But nope, I'm just that slow!
So this picture is definitaly of Hilary but you can see me behind her finishing! YAY! Zach finished like 30 minutes before us... I'm really bummed we didn't take the time to get a picture of the three of us at the finish line :(
Afterwards we went to the lake with Zach's family for a picnic... so we grabbed a photo there. And Hilary actually visited for a few days, and we really don't have much to show for that either. Bummer. I really need to get better at that!

Zach's sister got married!

Yay! Zach's sister got married August 8th up in the mountains here in Colorado. Her wedding was beautiful! I didn't get very many pictures, I guess we were too busy enjoying our evening. Anyhoo... here is Zach dancing with Dana during the 'money dance' although Zach gave her a paper that said 'IOU $20' wonder if he'll ever pay up... hmm
Me and my sister in law Emily...
Me, Zach and Jane... It was past her bed time so I pretty much held her the whole time.

Free day at the Denver art museum

Okay, so free day at the Denver art museum was pretty cool. Here is Jane and I... On our Imac we have a tool for getting rid of red eye, but what tool can I use to get rid of white eye? Any ideas? (so excuse Jane's eyes in this pic)
This was taken on the crazy floor...
This was my Favorite.
Zach loved this one.
And this was a whole exhibit that you could walk through. It was crazy.

camping at Rocky Mt National Park. For realz this time.

So, last time we attempted camping at Rocky Mt National park... there was still snow on the trails! It was crazy. Anyways, we went a few weeks ago and it was beautiful weather. Thank goodness!

This pic is from our campsite.
Here I am at the campfire holding sleeping Jane who is wearing a hat that I thought would keep her ears warm... I was wrong...
Beautiful view! We went hiking for a couple hours the next morning, and it was just gorgeous everywhere!
This is after about an hour of hiking and we were looking over a beautiful lake that isn't pictured... (notice how alert Jane is...)
This is on our way down from the lake... she was pooped!
It was a lot of fun. This weekend we are driving to Bear Lake in Utah and are going to camp for two nights straight. Wish us luck with Jane! (8 hour car ride + 2 nights camping followed by another 8 hour car ride, could be hard on a 5 month old baby... yikes!)
