Our attempt to camp...

Well hello there! This week Zach and I decided that we needed to do something to celebrate. (For what you might ask? Well, I'll blog about that on Monday) Anyways, we decided to go up to Rocky Mountain National Park to camp. We left early Wednesday so we could do some hiking before putting up camp. Here is how the day went:

We started off with a hike, the park rangers said that some of the hike wasn't very "hike-able" because there was still a TON of snow.   Well, at the beginning there were definitely some spots that were packed with snow, but not a lot. And we were thinking... man that ranger sure made it sound worse than it is... then it became like this... for the rest of the way.
It seems like there is room to walk on the side but mostly there wasn't. I slipped and fell so many times and got SO frustrated!  Then the clouds came in and some avid hikers (each of which were hiking by themselves. One of them didn't have a shirt on... that was pretty funny) came up to us and were like, you may want to turn around because a lot of times at this time of day there is freezing rain, which you don't want to be out here with a baby if that happens. After the first hiker said this we kept on going thinking it had to end soon. But by the time we saw the other hiker he said there were several miles left. So... we turned around. After a couple hours of hiking... at least we got to see some good views.

This is me pretending to be happy...
This is before the hike started... it really is BEAUTIFUL there!
This is towards the beginning of the hike... such pretty views!
And we got to see some wild life. And that was pretty sweet...

We ended up not staying the night because it started raining, and of course we didn't want to be camping in the rain with Jane. Also, we knew that since all the trails were packed with snow we wouldn't be doing any hiking the following day. So... we left, but at least we bought a year pass to the park so we will definitely be going back.

Well at least you tried right? This totally reminds of a trip Brian and I took, but before Alli and Nick were born. You'll have to go again when it gets warmer.

oooh! You've totally got me curious! What were you celebrating? I'm sorry your camping trip didn't turn out. Darn it. You can come to Idaho! We went to a beautiful canyon just last weekend and had a wonderful time... well we didn't get to celebrate anything but we had fun anyways! Can't wait to hear on Monday!

These views and experiences are why I want to move my family back to Denver. How 'bout the sweet smell of those pines? Mmmm.

We had so much fun with you guys! Running the Boulder Boulder separately, hiking, having dinner at your cute pad, attempting to make it to that 5K....we actually got quite a bit of time together! Woopee! Did you guys ever find that race? Sorry about not coming--the car is fine now, no transmission problems. Something was wrong with a sensor and we made it home in one piece! If you're ever in Chicago, we'll party. p.s. that was so weird that our husbands have so much in common...kindred spirits, hehe.

I don't even know how you could consider camping with a baby! If we ever tried to take Bella camping it would be MISERABLE for her and us! She wouldn't have her fan for white noise and she can't keep her covers on to save her life! Fun snow hike though eh!? :P
